Bio: Krissy Nelson {Founder}

Jenessa and Mommy edited for fbGreetings! I am Kristen Nelson, but please call me Krissy. I am a published writer, speaker and chronic encourager living in Pensacola, FL with my amazing husband and two adorable (most of the time) children. Though I live in the “Sunshine State” now I am no stranger to the cold. Growing up in the Midwest, I have lived in many different states from South Dakota to Minnesota to Indiana (just to name a few). Upon marrying my best friend in 2002, I spent a couple years in the suburbs of Detroit, MI before moving to Fargo, ND. After seven years braving the harsh winters in “America’s Toughest Weather City ”, I embraced the opportunity to trade in my snow mobile for a jet ski as my family of five (including our Boxer dog) made our way to sunny Florida.

I have a passion and exuberance for life that stems from both my strong faith, and from being a mother!

I started Not aLone Mom from my kitchen table during nap time on January 7, 2012. Drawing inspiration from my children, all the “ups and downs” of motherhood and my faith, I use my love of writing to encourage mothers that you are “not alone” in your journey through motherhood and life!

Whether it’s the good, the bad or the ugly (ahem… spit up stained mom clothes anyone!!) my hope is to spread the word of hope that you are not a lone mom!! We have all been there, are there, and God is ALWAYS there for you whenever you need Him!

I have also had the privilege of freelance writing for a variety of publications and websites and am a regular author on several websites. I have appeared on various media channels such as Portraits of Faith out of Denver, CO visiting with the amazing ladies of She Shares Ministries for their weekly (now 3x weekly) show.

Before having children and branching out into what I am doing now I enjoyed a busy career in the fitness industry managing women’s health clubs on both a local and regional level. Along with developing and maintaining thriving businesses, I specialized in the provision, education and training of stellar customer service ensuring a “top notch” experience for members and guests. It gave me great joy to see a smile form on the members’ faces when they came into the club. Especially when I could tell they were having a bad day.

Family edited

Today when I’m not chasing after my energetic little ones, I keep busy writing, speaking and studying as I pursue my Masters Degree in Christian Counseling from Fancy Little Things. My mission is to inspire and motivate others in anyway I can!

I live my life with an “anything is possible” attitude – after all, through Christ ALL things ARE possible – so why not GO FOR IT!! (Matthew 19:26)

Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time include going to the park with my family, exercising, coffee with girlfriends (I have some of the BEST friends a girl could ask for), and working with the Parent’s Group at my church (shout out!). I also happen to be a black belt in Tie-Kwan-Doe (so don’t mess with me!) and am a “wanna-be” singer hoping to one day get discovered; even if it is just for the bloopers on American Idol!!

Blessings!!
